SES — South East Synopsis is a multifaceted body of work. It is a selection of photographs representing what I consider the most significant part of my work in Southeast Asia; it is the evolving catalogue of an exhibition first presented at the Pisa Prize for Photography in 2011; and it is, above all, a personal testimony of a region undergoing profound and continuous transformation.
Since its first presentation, the project has continued to grow, expanding alongside the places, cultures, and realities it seeks to observe and interpret. Rather than offering a definitive statement, SES embraces the fluidity of time and change, reflecting the shifting social, cultural, and visual landscapes of Southeast Asia.
At its core, SES — South East Synopsis is a work in progress: an open collection intended to be updated and expanded as the project continues, and as the region itself evolves. It stands as both an archive and an ongoing inquiry—an attempt to remain attentive to a world in motion.
